How to get featured in the Chrome Web Store
BadgeExtension Ranking
I saw many Chrome extensions with only a few hundred users and about 20 ratings get featured, but I also saw many extensions with a lot more users and ratings that didn't get featured. What are the actual criteria and process to get featured?
Answer
According to the Chrome Extension Developer Guide, the Featured badge is granted after a manual review by the Chrome team. To qualify, an extension must meet the following criteria:
- Adherence Chrome Web Store's best practices, including:

- Use of Manifest V3
- Mechanisms to protect user safety
- Adherence to the extension's privacy policy
- Strong performance and reliable functionality
- An intuitive and enjoyable user experience
- Provide a clear and helpful store listing with high-quality images and detailed descriptions.
In addition, developers may nominate their extensions for the Featured badge through the One Stop support page. To be successfully awarded the badge, the following requirements must also be met:
- The product must be a Chrome extension
- The nominated extension must be owned by you
- The extension must support English
- The extension must be published and publicly available
- The extension must not have any unresolved policy violations
- The core functionality of the extension must be usable without requiring extra credentials or payment
NOTE: Make sure you are logged in with your developer account. This is important as they only allow self-nominations.
